Dos & Don’ts

Before Your Tan
* Your waxing, manis, pedis, facials and or eye lash tinting should be done the day before your  spray tan.
*Shave and exfoliate with an exfoliating glove or scrub about 8-24 hours before your spray tan. This will rid the skin of the top layers of dead skin which will enable the tan to last longer! Also try to use a soap or exfoliating scrub that does not contain oil and as little fragrance or alcohol as possible.
*Do not wear any makeup, perfumes, lotions or deodorant, these can affect the absorption of the tan and may result in minimal color or streaking. Spraying over deodorant may also may cause green rings around the armpit which may be difficult to remove.
*Wear or bring dark loose fitting clothes and flip flops to wear afterwards. Tight fitting clothes can rub the tan off if worn too soon. It is recommended to wait at least 5 hours before putting on tight fitting clothes
* If you would like to tan with a bathing suit or bikini make it a darker color, the tanning solution does wash out of most materials but could dull the color if it’s on the lighter side. Materials it might stain are silks, satins and leather or…don’t wear anything…ohh la la! * Do not shower 6-8 hours after your tan, the longer you leave it on the darker your tan will be!

After Your Tan
*Don’t freak out!! You will see color washing off the first time you shower…This is just the cosmetic bronzer that was applied when you got your tan silly!
*When you do shower use a soft wash cloth or your hand with a body wash or gel, these contain less alkaline than bar soap. Also remember to use a brand that doesn’t contain any oils and as little fragrance and alcohol as possible as I mentioned before.
*Avoid long hot showers or baths. This will speed up the fading process
*Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!! Words to live by in the spray tanning world and what I mean by that is…the more you moisturize (with alcohol free lotion) the longer your tan will last. I like to moisturize twice a day!
* Before swimming or soaking in a hot tub use a waterproof sunscreen to help seal it in, this will slow down the fading process.
* Do not sit directly on leather or light fabric furniture immediately after your tan.
*Avoid perspiring and be careful washing hands while in the first 6-8 hours, prior to your first shower.
*Alcohol based products are drying to the skin and can cause the tan to fade quicker and unevenly.
